President's Report
Greg miller, P.E.

NJ ASHRAE Members,
The end of the year is a busy time for many of us. Between the holidays and deadlines it’s important to remember what’s important. I’m thankful our ASHRAE chapter provides a network and meeting space for our industry. More importantly, I’m thankful to our members who give back to the community we depend on. A big thank you to all who donated to our Toy’s for Tots drive!
If you missed our Top Golf event last month, be sure to come out to happy hour on 12/9 to meet your fellow ASHRAE members. See you all there! And keep an eye on our thermogram for more events coming up.
Greg Miller, PE
ASHRAE New Jersey Chapter.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
EPA Issues SNAP Proposed Rule
On November 10, the EPA proposed Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Rule 27. The rule lists several substitute refrigerants as acceptable, subject to use conditions, for residential and light commercial air conditioners and heat pumps, chillers, household refrigerators and freezers, motor vehicle air conditioners, and fire suppression and explosion protection. This action also proposes to update use conditions for substitutes previously listed for certain air conditioning end uses, and for water coolers. The substitute refrigerants help sectors transition away from high global warming potential hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) addressed under the AIM Act. Comments are due by December 26. More information on the rule can be found here.
